Shawn Kingston Bridges has been an artist her entire life. Though a multi-media designer at heart, her focus lies in acrylic painting. Her sometimes unconventional use of vivid color is not a result of her formal art education, but a reaction against it. She is not bound by the accepted scholarly canon of fine art. She pulls inspiration not only from the masters, but from the beauty of everyday life as well.
Her clients include Mr. and Mrs. Red McCombs of San Antonio, Texas, and Cuchara, Colorado; Babs Baugh of San Antonio; Trinity Baptist Church in San Antonio; The Carver Academy in San Antonio; The University of Southern Colorado in Pueblo, Colorado; The American Cancer Society of San Antonio, and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. She finds personal commissions, though, to be more satisfying, as she can focus on a single subject and the look that patron would like to portray.
She works not from sittings for portraits, but from photographs. This process enables her to cater to clients across town or across the country.
Shawn provided the art work illustrating Gary Bridges' new novel, The Cuchara Chronicles, now available here.
Many of Shawn's paintings can be viewed in person at the Timbers Gallery in Cuchara, CO.
